ALEA RESEARCH GRANTS - APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
The Australian Literacy Educators’ Association provides small grants for schools and teachers who wish to conduct research inquiries with a focus on literacy education. Each research project must have the support of an academic partner. Contingent upon available funding, grants of up to $6,000 may be awarded each year, although priority will be given to smaller grants in order to support as many research projects as possible.

Grant studies may be carried out using any research methods so long as the focus of the project is on literacy development and learning within the school context. Activities such as developing new programs or instructional materials are not eligible for funding.

Over recent years research grants have been award to projects entitled:
• What counts as comprehension in teacher practice?
• Using literature to engage all students
• Tales from a Dilly Bag: building strong foundations for literacy for young Indigenous and ESL learners
• Exposing the social scientist – explicitly teaching the literacy of SOSE
• Editing Partners: A collaborative approach to better writing
• Improving Literacy Outcomes through quality creative pedagogy
• A Focus on Talking and Listening: using technology to support the deconstruction and reconstruction of audio text

Applications close 15 June 2012. Please download the criteria and application details which are located at the ALEA Grants tab on this website.
